What to Expect When Hiring a Professional Organizer

Hiring a professional organizer can feel a little intimidating, especially if you've never done it before.

Most of my clients come to me feeling overwhelmed, unsure where to start, and sometimes even a little embarrassed about their space. So let's walk through exactly what you can expect when working with me here in the Bay Area.

Step 1: Reaching Out

The process usually starts when you reach out through my website or by email. I reply within 24 to 48 hours.

From there, I'll ask a few questions to better understand your space, your goals, and whether we're a good fit. Photos are always helpful at this stage. They give me a clearer picture of what's going on before we connect.

Step 2: The Consultation Call

Next, we'll schedule a free 30-minute consultation call. During this call, we'll:

  • talk through your main struggles

  • define your goals for the space

  • discuss how you currently use your home

If you're working with an interior designer, I'm happy to include them. I follow their plan so everything I set up fits the design.

We'll also go over pricing so you know exactly what to expect. Most clients choose one of my packages:

  • A Little Bliss: a pantry or smaller closet, from $750

  • Everyday Bliss: kitchen, pantry and closet, $2,000 (my most popular)

  • Total Bliss: the whole home, from $3,000

Many clients start with one space and then continue room by room as we build systems throughout the home.

Step 3: Booking Your Date

Once you're ready, I'll send over a simple agreement to sign and a 50% deposit to hold your date. As soon as both are done, your spot is reserved and we pick a start date that works for you.

Step 4: Before the Session

One of the most important things to know: please don't clean or organize before I arrive.

I want to see your home in its most natural state. This helps me understand:

  • where clutter naturally collects

  • what's working (and what's not)

  • how your home actually functions day to day

Step 5: The Organizing Process

When I arrive, we start by fully assessing the space and then begin the hands-on work. The process typically includes:

  1. Taking everything out of the space

  2. Grouping like items together

  3. Identifying what can be decluttered

  4. Creating categories and systems

  5. Placing frequently used items within easy reach

  6. Storing lesser-used items in higher or less accessible areas

If I see opportunities to improve the space with specific products, I'll recommend them. You can purchase them yourself, or I can source and install them during a future session.

Step 6: Your Role in the Process

You can be as involved as you'd like. Some clients prefer to be hands-on and make decisions alongside me, while others prefer to step away and trust the process.

I understand that some decisions are easier than others:

  • deciding on extra kitchen items is usually quick

  • sorting through sentimental items can take more time

When needed, I may assign small "homework" tasks so we can use our session time as efficiently as possible.

Step 7: After the Session

By the end of a session, your space will feel lighter, more functional, and easier to maintain. More importantly, you'll have systems in place that actually work for your daily life.

Many clients choose to continue with additional sessions to tackle other areas of the home, or join my monthly maintenance program to keep everything running smoothly.

Let's Address the Biggest Fear

A lot of people worry about being judged. Let me be clear: there is no judgment here.

I've seen it all, and my goal is simply to help you create a space that supports you.

Why Hire a Professional Organizer?

Because it's not just about making things look nice. It's about:

  • creating systems that actually last

  • reducing mental load

  • making your home easier to live in every day

You don't have to figure it out on your own.
