Where to Donate in the Bay Area: 10 Local Places That Actually Need Your Stuff
You did the hard part. You decluttered the closet, cleaned out the garage, and now there are six bags of perfectly good shit sitting by your front door.
And they've been there for three weeks.
I see this all the time with my organizing clients. Getting rid of something is one decision. Figuring out where the hell it should actually GO is another.
And when something is still useful, throwing it in the trash feels shitty. So I put together some of my favorite places to donate around the Bay Area—places where your clothes, furniture, household goods, food, and baby gear can actually get a second life.
Let's get that donation pile out of your house.
Here are 10 meaningful places in the Bay Area to donate your items and support causes that truly matter:
1. Buy Nothing Project (Local Facebook Groups)
One of the easiest and most impactful ways to give is through your neighborhood's Buy Nothing group. These hyper-local Facebook communities allow you to gift directly to your neighbors - no drop-offs, no middlemen. Whether it’s kids’ toys, outgrown clothes, or unopened pantry goods, there’s likely someone nearby who could use them.
📍 Available throughout the Bay Area
